Chusak Denies Current Government’s Involvement in Rice Pledging Case

Bangkok: "Chusak" points out that the rice pledging case has nothing to do with this government. Mr. Chuak Sirinil, Minister to the Prime Minister's Office and Deputy Leader of the Pheu Thai Party, addressed concerns as the Administrative Court prepares to deliver its order regarding the Ministry of Finance's appeal. The appeal involves former Prime Minister Ms. Yingluck Shinawatra, who was ordered to pay 35 billion baht in compensation for unlawful damages related to the rice pledging scheme. Mr. Chusak emphasized that the case pertains to the former government and does not involve the current administration.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chusak commented on potential outcomes of the case, noting that the political direction could be interpreted from various perspectives, including public opinion. He reiterated that these considerations are separate from the responsibilities of the current government.

Regarding the possibility of the Administrative Court ruling in favor of Ms. Yingluck, Mr. Chusak indicated that any revival of the Supreme Court's previous ruling, which sentenced her to five years in prison, would depend on the specific details of the case. He admitted uncertainty about the forthcoming verdict.
