Caught Red-Handed: Robber Breaks Into Bank and Steals Money Alone

Bangkok: A lone robber who robbed a bank in Chiang Mai and stole over 40,000 baht in cash before fleeing. The latest update is that he was cornered by police and arrested at a roadside pavilion.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred at noon when a well-built man, dressed neatly in a shirt, hat, jeans, black sneakers, and a mask to conceal his identity, used a knife to break into a bank in Chiang Mai. The robber threatened a female bank employee with the knife before making off with 40,000 baht in cash. Eyewitnesses reported seeing him escape into an alley across from the bank, where he boarded a red four-wheeled songthaew, fleeing along the old San Kamphaeng route.

The latest update reveals that police have successfully apprehended the suspect at a roadside pavilion on the Chiang Mai-Chiang Rai road in Doi Saket district, Chiang Mai province. The authorities recovered the stolen cash, which will serve as evidence in the case.
