Cambodian Travel Restrictions Implemented at Khlong Luek Checkpoint

Sa Kaeo: The Thai 1st Army Region, through the Burapha Force, has instituted a daily limit of 1,000 Cambodians allowed to pass through the Khlong Luek checkpoint into Thailand. This policy aims to manage cross-border movement while maintaining the current checkpoint operating hours.

According to Thai News Agency, the Burapha Force issued an urgent letter to relevant agencies at the Thai-Cambodian border, highlighting the need to facilitate the return of both Thai and Cambodian citizens to their hometowns. This initiative is part of broader humanitarian measures being implemented in the region.

The measures specify that Cambodian citizens seeking to purchase essential goods may use a Border Pass from Banteay Meanchey Province but cannot bring vehicles, except for bicycles, into Thailand. The Immigration Office of Sa Kaeo Province is tasked with granting one-day stay permissions during designated times throughout the day.

Cambodian citizens returning home with personal vehicles must comply with customs procedures and can do so between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Students have specific morning and evening time slots for cross-border travel, while humanitarian cases requiring medical treatment are also accommodated with necessary coordination and documentation.

Thai citizens can return to Thailand using a Border Pass and Passport, with the checkpoints operating from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Furthermore, travel restrictions apply at the Thai-Cambodian Friendship Bridge and Ban Khao Din Permanent Border Checkpoint, with specific conditions for vehicles and individuals entering and exiting.

The enforcement of these travel measures began on June 26, 2025, and will remain in effect until further notice from the Burapha Force.
