"Warawut" reveals that the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security has already helped more than ten thousand vulnerable people affected by floods, while the Public Sector Development Commission has approved a 3-month debt repayment suspension for 8 provinces affected by Typhoon Yangi. Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Social Development and Human Security, revealed that from the Operation Center of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security reporting on assistance to vulnerable groups from agencies under the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security in the disaster situation from August 15 to September 20, 2024, it was found that 30 provinces, 89 districts, 357 sub-districts, 1,923 villages, and 71,234 households were affected by the disaster situation. There were 48,110 vulnerable households or 56,110 individuals affected by the disaster situation, divided into 7,400 children, 5,391 youths, 9,912 disabled persons, 29,092 elderly persons, and 5,168 low-income persons. The Mi nistry of Social Development and Human Security has provided assistance to 13,157 vulnerable people, including various forms of financial assistance to 5,337 families, consultations on welfare rights for 4,592 people, home renovations for 50 people, and orphanages for 6 people. The Ministry's donation centers have provided essential consumer goods to the victims, with cooperation from the private sector, such as diapers for the elderly, boxed meals, drinking water, medicine, prosthetics for the disabled, consumer goods, and specific items for the target groups, such as canes, disposable diapers, and mobile toilets. A total of 21 kitchens have been set up in collaboration with the provinces of Nan, Phrae, Phayao, Sukhothai, Chiang Rai, and Chiang Mai. The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security has also opened the areas of the agency by the MSDHS team in 16 provinces to be temporary shelters for disaster victims, totaling 42 locations, divided into 22 locations in the North in 8 provinces and 20 loc ations in the Northeast in 8 provinces. In addition, on September 20, the Community Organizations Development Institute (Public Organization) or PDC, an agency under the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, held the 10th PDC Committee meeting of 2024 and approved the suspension of principal and interest payments for 3 months for organizations (cooperatives under the Secure Housing Project) affected by the floods, whose member houses were damaged by the influence of Typhoon Yangi, the continuous rain situation during August 2024, and areas affected by the floods, totaling 29 organizations and 6,434 households in 8 provinces: Chiang Rai, Phayao, Phrae, Loei, Nong Khai, Nakhon Phanom, Amnat Charoen, and Ubon Ratchathani. When PDC announces next week, affected organizations can submit their requests immediately. Requests for a suspension of no more than 3 months in this round from the date of the request for a suspension are requested.
