Pathum thani: A brutal son-in-law was caught having an affair with his wife's 13-year-old sister-in-law. He stormed into his wife's home and shot her entire family to death, killing her mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and aunt before taking his own life to escape the crime.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred at 11:10 PM today. Investigators from Khlong Ha Police Station in Pathum Thani Province coordinated with forensic officers and volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation to inspect a house in Village No. 7, Khlong Chet Subdistrict, Khlong Luang District, Pathum Thani Province. The scene was behind the house, an open area. The body of 46-year-old Mrs. Tasanee was found lying dead beside the dining table. She had a gunshot wound to the head. A number of .380-caliber bullet casings were found beside it.
The body of 43-year-old Chaiwat, the younger brother of Mrs. Tasanee, was also found injured. Inside the house, 13-year-old Wanphen, Mrs. Tasanee's daughter, was also injured. Rescue workers quickly administered first aid before rushing her to a nearby hospital. It was also reported that another injured person, Mr. Anurak, or Subdistrict Administrative Organization member Nu, had previously ridden his motorcycle to Khlong Luang Hospital by himself.
In front of the house, a tractor-trailer carrying soil was parked. When officials arrived to investigate, they found the body of Mr. Kiatisak, or "Noom," 35, lying there breathing weakly. He had a gunshot wound to his left temple. He later died. Nearby, a 9mm pistol was found. It was reported that the deceased and the injured were members of the same family. The gunman who committed the crime was Mr. Kiatisak, who was his son-in-law. After the incident, he climbed into the tractor-trailer and shot himself.
Ms. Nantanapat, 26, the wife of Mr. Kiatsak, the gunman involved in the incident, stated that before the incident, her family had discovered that her husband, Mr. Kiatsak, had been secretly having romantic conversations with her younger sister for a long time, but lacked evidence. They arranged to meet at Mr. Kiatsak's older brother's house in the Bang Pa-in district of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province to discuss the situation. However, upon arrival, her husband had not yet arrived, so she waited at his older brother's house. Meanwhile, Ms. Tasanee, her mother, Mr. Chaiwat, her uncle, and their 13-year-old younger sister returned to the house where the incident occurred.
Later, she received a call from her husband telling her to come home with him, saying that he had shot everyone in the house. Then she heard a single gunshot. She then hurried back to the house and found that her mother, uncle, and younger sister had been shot and injured. Her husband had shot himself in a trailer parked in front of the house. Police have gathered all the evidence and will call in everyone in the house for further questioning about the motive behind the crime.
The latest report confirms that two more people have died at the hospital: Mr. Chaiwat, age 43 (uncle) and Miss Wanphen, age 13 (sister of the perpetrator's wife). In summary, the case has resulted in four deaths (including the gunman) and one injury.
