Boom Panadda Hosts Second ‘Return Smiles to Our Border Brothers’ Event Amidst Thai-Cambodian Tensions

Sa kaeo: Boom Panadda organized the "Return Smiles to Our Border Brothers" event for the second time to offer moral support to those affected by the Thai-Cambodian border incident. At Ban Nong Ya Kaeo this morning, although no Cambodian activity has been detected, officials are not taking any chances and are maintaining high vigilance.

According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Panadda Wongphudee today held the second "Return Smiles to Our Border Brothers" concert at Thappraya Pittaya School in Khok Sung District, Sa Kaeo Province. The concert featured a variety of singers and comedians, providing entertainment for the Nong Chan villagers who have been under stress due to recent tensions.

The event extended beyond the concert, starting at 10:00 a.m. with fun games and activities organized by Burapha Task Force officers to help relieve stress for the villagers. Later, scholarships were awarded to students, and financial assistance was provided to 10 individuals affected by landmines.

From an aerial view of Ban Nong Ya Kaew this morning, no movement of Cambodians was observed near the barbed wire fence. Despite this, officials remain vigilant, suspecting that Cambodian officials may be hiding among dense trees in the area.

A joint meeting between the Governor of Sa Kaeo Province and the Governor of Bonteay Meanchey Province took place at the Poipet permanent border crossing, where Cambodia made four proposals. These include maintaining the current situation without expanding the conflict, allowing Cambodians to return home, and removing barriers like barbed wire. The proposals also requested that any unresolved issues be referred to the GBC and JBC for further consideration.

In response, Sa Kaeo Province issued a statement addressing Cambodia's proposals. They requested the evacuation of encroached areas along the border, compliance with previous proposals, and warned of decisive action against any sovereignty encroachments or harm to Thai officials and citizens.

The situation in Khok Sung District has been relatively calm over the past two days, although developments continue in certain areas. Ongoing monitoring of the situation is necessary.
