Bangkok: Deputy Commander of the Central Investigation Bureau, Pol. Maj. Gen. Charoonkiat Pankaew, has addressed and dismissed rumors suggesting the involvement of high-ranking monks in a new case, clarifying that the case pertains to monks in a provincial area and is unrelated to the previously reported 'Golf' case.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Maj. Gen. Charoonkiat Pankaew stated that he was informed of the rumors through media channels. He expressed concern about the potential damage these rumors could cause and emphasized the importance of withholding speculation until facts are verified. He confirmed that although there are other high-ranking monks involved with a laywoman, their situation is distinct from that of the 'Golf' case. These monks, who hold higher ecclesiastical ranks, are based in provincial areas rather than Bangkok. The actions of these monks are considered violations of monastic discipline, yet they remain separate from the 'Golf' case. Details are currently withheld as investigations continue to gather clear evidence.
The establishment of the Buddhism Maintenance Center, aimed at handling complaints about monks, has received hundreds of calls from the public. Officials are in the process of reviewing the information, and it remains uncertain whether additional issues related to the 'Golf' case will emerge.
