Bhumtham Reassures Stability in Government and Pheu Thai Party Amidst Constitutional Court Hearing

Bangkok: Bhumtham Wechayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, addressed concerns about the stability of the government and the Pheu Thai Party amidst the upcoming Constitutional Court hearing. He emphasized that the Prime Minister is committed to demonstrating his sincere intentions to the court, believing that the process is in the country's best interest.

According to Thai News Agency, Bhumtham reiterated that there is no turmoil within the government or the Pheu Thai Party and that everything is proceeding as planned. He addressed the scheduled court hearing on August 29th concerning an audio clip of a conversation with Hun Sen. Bhumtham expressed confidence in the Prime Minister's intentions, emphasizing that there was no plan to create disruption. He mentioned that despite fears of security issues, no such problems have materialized. He assured that the government is maintaining communication with military leaders and is committed to the country's independence and sovereignty.

When questioned about contingency plans in case of any political incident involving the Prime Minister, Bhumtham stated that democratic processes are in place, and there is no need for preparation. He emphasized the importance of revealing the truth and resolving the people's problems, highlighting the mental strength and awareness of government and Pheu Thai members.

Regarding the court's decision to allow only one witness out of the five requested by the Prime Minister, Bhumtham remarked that it was at the court's discretion and considered the focus on the Secretary-General of the National Security Council to be reasonable. He dismissed any discussions about the Prime Minister's potential resignation before the court hearing date.
