Bhumtham Highlights Senate and Khao Kradong Collusion as Major Issue

Bangkok: "Bhumtham" acknowledges the case of collusion between the Senate and Khao Kradong as a major issue that must be clearly resolved. Bhumjaithai Party's "Phumtham" counters Bhumjaithai Party's case, insisting that the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) is proceeding with the case against the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation's company for encroaching on public land in Ubon Ratchathani Province in accordance with legal procedures. He acknowledged that the case of collusion between the Senate and Khao Kradong is a major matter that needs to be clearly resolved, given the public interest.

According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Acting Prime Minister, Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, addressed the Bhumjaithai Party's call for Mr. Phumtham, in his capacity as Chairman of the Special Case Committee, to investigate the family company case of Ms. Sudawan Wangsuphakitchkosol, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI). This follows the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) accepting the case as a special investigation into the encroachment of public land in Ubon Ratchathani Province. This follows the ongoing expedited investigation into the Khao Kradong land case and the Senate collusion case.

He stated that he believes the DSI will address every issue, but acknowledged that the Senate collusion case is a major issue. If it is truly realized, it constitutes a violation of the rules and democratic system. It is a major issue, and can be seen as a matter of public interest. The Khao Kradong case is another major and important matter, and it is a matter of compliance with the Supreme Court's decision regarding the approximately 5,000 rai land issue, which has been pending for over a decade. He stated that he cannot rush the case, but it is a matter that must be resolved for clarity.

When asked if the DSI had claimed it had been six years but had yet to indict Ms. Sudawan, Mr. Phumtham retorted, "Comparing six years to over 10 years, we have to consider the magnitude of the matter. It's okay, you have the right to ask. But I believe most people, the entire country, are more interested in the Khao Kradong case. As for other matters, we'll proceed according to the legal process. Regarding the Khao Kradong case, I ask for clarity. If you think there's a problem, clarify it." When asked whether the revocation of the Khao Kradong land title must wait for the new Director-General of the Land Department to sign off on it, or whether the acting director-general can proceed first, following the announcement of the revocation on August 2nd, Mr. Phumtham stated that he had already answered this question several times. He is waiting for the new Director-General of the Land Department to be appointed and will assume his duties immediately.
