Bangkok: The Bhumjaithai Party is gaining popularity in the southern region of the country and is ambitiously aiming to secure 30 seats in the upcoming election. Key political families, Kanchana and Lohsathapornpipit, are aligning with the party to bolster their electoral chances.
According to Thai News Agency, the Bhumjaithai Party has recently introduced Mr. Chumpol Chulasai, a former Democrat Party MP, as a candidate for the next election. Following this, the party is preparing to introduce the influential “Big House” Kanchana group, led by Mr. Chumpol Kanchana and Mrs. Sopha Kanchana, the president of the Surat Thani Provincial Administrative Organization, into their fold.
The party is also reaching out to Mr. Somchai Losatapornpipit, known as Ko Noh, who manages two Trang MPs: Ms. Sunatcha Losatapornpipit and Mr. Kanchan Tangpong, both from the Democrat Party. Their potential shift follows Mr. Chalermchai Sri-on’s resignation. In a related move, Mr. Thawee Suraban, a Trang MP from the Palang Pracharath Party, is anticipated to join the Bhumjaithai Party.
In addition, the faction led by Mr. Niphon Bunyamanee, which includes his son Mr. Sanphet Bunyamanee and Mr. Somyot Plaiduang, both Democrat MPs for Songkhla, are also expected to join the Bhumjaithai Party in the forthcoming election.
The Bhumjaithai Party is planning to field candidates across every constituency in the southern region, with the strategic goal of electing at least 30 MPs.
