Bhumjaithai Party Prepares MP Candidates Amidst Parliamentary Dissolution Speculations

Bangkok: The Bhumjaithai Party has announced the preparation of its MP candidates for the upcoming elections, reaffirming their readiness and denying involvement in Pheu Thai's potential move to dissolve Parliament. Party members remain on standby in Bangkok, ready to attend Parliament meetings as required.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Nan Bunthida Somchai, MP for Ubon Ratchathani and spokesperson for the Bhumjaithai Party, shared after a party meeting that the House of Representatives agenda is under consideration, awaiting the Speaker's decision on a new agenda. The party discussed its preparations, instructing the candidate selection committee to submit MP candidate nominations to the Executive Committee within 15 days in anticipation of the forthcoming election.

When questioned about the motivations behind preparing the list of MP candidates, Ms. Nan Bunthida emphasized that elections are inevitable, and such preparation is customary. The meeting also addressed the People's Party's stance on voting for Bhumjaithai Party leader Anutin Charnvirakul as a prime ministerial candidate, with discussions initiated last week. The party has authorized its leader, secretary-general, and executive committee to engage with various proposals.

Further inquiries about potential additional meetings, should the Prachachon Party clarify its position, revealed that Bhumjaithai's MPs are ready to participate in parliamentary sessions throughout the week. Another meeting may be convened if necessary, pending the Prachachon Party's stance.

Regarding the likelihood of the People's Party supporting Mr. Anutin, the spokesperson highlighted that the Bhumjaithai Party leader had already presented all proposals. On the topic of Pheu Thai potentially dissolving Parliament, Ms. Nan Bunthida clarified that every member has defined roles and legal boundaries, warning of consequences for overstepping these limits. The meeting also reviewed legal and constitutional matters, viewing the situation as foreseeable.

Lastly, when asked about the People's Party's vision statement for its prime ministerial candidate, the spokesperson noted that such decisions are entrusted to the party leader, secretary, and executive committee.
