Bangkok: Sasikarn Wattanachan, Deputy Government Spokesperson, invites the public to join the 16th Bangkok World Film Festival from November 7-17, featuring more than 100 rare films from 35 countries. The event aims to promote soft power in film and will be held at SF World Cinema, located on the 8th floor of Central World shopping center in Bangkok. According to Thai News Agency, the festival is organized by the National Soft Power Strategy Committee, the Department of Cultural Promotion, Ministry of Culture, and private sector partners. This collaboration between public and private sectors aims to drive the "Soft Power" policy in film, stimulating the country's tourism economy and enhancing the Thai film industry's global reach. The event also serves as a bridge to connect arts, culture, ideas, and learning through diverse film content from around the world. The festival returns with the theme "New Horizons," reflecting a pursuit of new opportunities that could benefit the Thai film industry in the future . Ms. Sasikarn stated that over 100 quality and rare films have been selected for the festival to align with the government's policy of supporting and promoting Thai films as a soft power. This policy involves leveraging creativity, innovation, and technology to enhance Thailand's cultural capital and elevate Thai film soft power on the international stage.
