Bangkok Officials Warn of Imminent Heavy Rainfall Across Region

Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rainfall anticipated to impact Bangkok, its surrounding areas, and several other regions in the Northeast, Lower Central, Eastern, and Southern parts of the country.

According to Thai News Agency, the forecast predicts heavy rain in specific areas as a result of a monsoon trough influencing the Lower Central, Upper Southern, and Eastern regions. Additionally, a prevailing southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, Lower Southern, and Gulf of Thailand is exacerbating the situation, along with southeasterly winds carrying moisture from the South China Sea into the Northeastern region.

Residents in these vulnerable areas are urged to remain vigilant against potential thunderstorms, significant rainfall, and water accumulation. Precautionary measures such as carrying umbrellas or raincoats and exercising caution when traveling through waterlogged zones are advised. Mariners navigating the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand should also be cautious, as wave heights could rise above 2 meters during thunderstorms.

The regional weather forecast for October 14, 2025, indicates that thunderstorms will affect 70% of Bangkok and its vicinity, with some areas experiencing heavy rain. The temperature in the capital is expected to range from a minimum of 24-25 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 31-34 degrees Celsius, with variable winds blowing at 10-20 km/h.

In the Northern Region, thunderstorms are predicted in 40% of the area, predominantly in provinces such as Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, and Sukhothai. The Northeastern region will see thunderstorms in 60% of its area, impacting provinces like Sakon Nakhon and Nakhon Phanom. The Central region is forecasted to have thunderstorms in 70% of the area, notably affecting Suphan Buri and Kanchanaburi.

The Eastern region will experience thunderstorms in 70% of its area, with heavy rainfall expected in locations such as Chon Buri and Rayong. Similarly, the Southern Region (East Coast) will have thunderstorms in 70% of the area, affecting provinces like Chumphon and Songkhla. In the Southern Region (West Coast), thunderstorms are expected in 60% of the area, particularly in Trang and Satun.
