Bangkok: Governor Chadchart Sittipunt has reaffirmed that the investigation into alleged corruption in the procurement of exercise equipment has not been halted. He emphasized his commitment to pursuing legal action and ensuring justice for all involved parties.
According to Thai News Agency, Governor Chadchart addressed misinformation regarding the investigation into corruption in the procurement of exercise equipment intended for recreation and sports centers managed by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DBT). The investigation spans seven projects and has been ongoing since 2024. The process involves three main investigative bodies: a disciplinary investigation by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), a financial and criminal investigation by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), and an oversight review by the Office of the Auditor General.
The BMA's disciplinary investigation began with the establishment of a fact-finding committee. In a meeting held on December 6, 2024, the investigation committee reviewed the cases of 33 accused individuals. It found that 14 had committed disciplinary offenses, while 19 were cleared of such allegations, ensuring justice for those not implicated. Governor Chadchart noted that the findings align with those of the State Audit Office, and the investigation is ongoing.
Governor Chadchart emphasized, 'I must clarify again that the investigation has not been terminated. However, if it is found that someone without any basis has committed a disciplinary offense, justice must be given to them. As for those who have basis, they must continue to fight. Everything is still proceeding according to the regulations, there is no end.'
