BAAC Celebrates 59th Anniversary with 550 Billion Baht Loan Disbursement to Boost Agricultural Sector

Bangkok: The Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) is marking its 59th anniversary with a strategic mission to elevate the agricultural sector. By 2025, the bank had disbursed loans amounting to over 550 billion baht, reinforcing its commitment to fostering economic growth within the agricultural domain.

According to Thai News Agency, the BAAC is actively addressing household debt, a national concern, by implementing debt repayment suspension measures for retail debtors. The bank is also focusing on rehabilitating occupational potential, fostering environmental balance, and promoting agricultural products across Thailand’s 77 provinces through BAAC Matching. This digital platform connects BAAC customers, small farmers, and community enterprises directly with consumers, generating income and supporting sustainable agricultural growth.

Mr. Chatchai Sirilai, President of BAAC, announced during the bank’s anniversary event that the institution is committed to its vision of becoming a “Sustainable Rural Development Bank.” The bank’s efforts aim to improve farmers’ quality of life and foster stable growth in the Thai agricultural sector. In the first half of fiscal year 2025, BAAC’s loans to enhance liquidity and investment reached 551.5 billion baht, with total loans amounting to 1,689.921 billion baht.

BAAC’s strategic initiatives include launching various deposit products and savings bonds, such as the Khun Phaen Morakot savings bond series, which attracted 3.58 billion baht in deposits as of October 2025. The bank is also addressing household debt through the government’s debt repayment suspension measures, reaching 1.35 million participants and disbursing loans under the Occupational Rehabilitation Loan Program.

In pursuit of sustainable rural development, BAAC is launching the BAAC Matching website, connecting production and marketing across the supply chain to support small-scale farmers and community enterprises. This initiative is part of the broader “BAAC Holistic” concept, aimed at creating a sustainable future for Thailand’s agriculture.

To engage youth and tackle the aging society issue, BAAC is implementing the Kaset Thanakorn Project, which imparts modern agricultural skills and financial literacy to schoolchildren. This initiative, along with the Kaset Wiwat Loan Project, aims to strengthen the agricultural sector by attracting young talent.

BAAC’s commitment to social and environmental sustainability is evident through its ESG principles, targeting carbon neutrality by 2050. The BAAC Carbon Credit project has led to significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, with environmentally friendly ESG loans disbursed to over 7,100 borrowers.

The bank’s operational success has been recognized with numerous international awards, including the 2024 Thailand Quality Award and the 2025 Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards. These accolades highlight BAAC’s excellence in management and its role in enhancing the agricultural sector and the quality of life for Thai farmers. As BAAC looks forward to its 60th year, it remains committed to sustainably developing Thailand’s agricultural sector.
