Ayutthaya Residents Struggle with Flooding Amidst Inaccessibility of Relief Program

Ayutthaya: Ayutthaya has been experiencing prolonged flooding, with residents complaining that despite receiving the “Half-Half Plus” scheme, they have barely used it. Meanwhile, the death toll has risen to 18, with over 60,000 households still submerged.

According to Thai News Agency, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province announced the death toll from the three-month flooding has risen to 18. Over 60,000 households in 11 districts remain affected, with homes submerged. Traveling in and out is now possible only by boat. Many residents complain that the water level remains high, and the floodwaters have been lingering for so long, almost like the 2011 floods. This makes it difficult to cope.

The current “Half-Half Plus” program, which is currently in effect, is suffocating, even though they’re eligible for the “Half-Half Plus” program. While they were able to use the program, they’ve barely made use of it, as everything is flooded. At first, they could have been reached by boat, but now the water is so high that orders for rice delivery have been canceled, as delivery drivers are unable to deliver and recipients are unable to come to collect their rice.
