Art Teacher Arrested for Sexually Abusing Fifth-Grade Female Student in Sa Kaeo

Bangkok: Police arrested an art teacher at a school in Sa Kaeo who fled to a condo in the Bangkok Noi area after luring a fifth-grade female student and sexually assaulting her. In an investigation, the teacher claimed the girl had provoked him. According to Thai News Agency, Police Lieutenant Colonel Thanapirasit Chulphiphop, or Inspector Jae, of the Metropolitan Police Bureau's investigative unit, along with child and women safety officers and officers from Khok Sung Police Station, Sa Kaeo Province, led a force to arrest Mr. Smith, 49, an art teacher at a school in Sa Kaeo Province. He was wanted on a warrant issued by the Sa Kaeo Provincial Court while he was hiding at a condominium in Ban Chang Lor Subdistrict, Bangkok Noi District, Bangkok. In this case, prior to the arrest under a court warrant, Khok Sung Police Station officers were notified that a teacher had sexually abused a fifth-grade female student in the area. They investigated and gathered evidence, finding that the teacher had indeed sexual ly abused the child, luring her repeatedly and engaging in violent acts that left the child suffering physical and mental pain, requiring a month of hospitalization. Investigators then gathered evidence and requested an arrest warrant for Mr. Smith, ultimately apprehending him. During questioning, the suspect confessed, but claimed that "the child provoked him first." Following his arrest, he was taken to the Khok Sung Police Station to face charges of multiple counts: sexual assault of a child under 13 years of age who is not his wife or husband, regardless of whether the child consents; indecent assault of a child under 15 years of age, regardless of whether the child consents; abducting a child under 13 years of age from their parents, guardians, or caregivers without reasonable cause for the purpose of indecent assault; and taking a child under 15 years of age for indecent assault, regardless of whether the child consents.
