Arrest Made in Lamphun Gold Theft Case, Suspect Reenacts Crime Scene

Lamphun: Police arrested a thief who stole 10 baht worth of gold in Lamphun Province on June 7 to reenact the crime scene after making the arrest in a famous shopping mall in Chonburi Province. Police Region 5 brought Mr. Prakon, 47, from Chonburi Province, a suspect in a robbery case of a Yaowarat gold shop in Pa Sang District, Lamphun Province, where he stole two gold necklaces, each weighing 5 baht each, worth over 500,000 baht, and fled on a motorcycle. The incident occurred on June 7, to reenact the crime scene to support his confession.

According to Thai News Agency, after the incident, the police collected evidence from CCTV cameras and traced the escape route. The culprit fled to hide in Bangkok and nearby provinces to sell gold to spend money before coordinating with Chonburi police to arrest him while shopping at a famous department store. It was found that he had approximately 100,000 baht in cash and 300,000 baht in his personal account. During questioning, the culprit used some of the money from the sale of gold, approximately 500,000 baht.
