Army Spokesman Confirms Access to Prasat Ta Muen Thom Under Joint Agreement

Bangkok: Army spokesman Maj. Gen. Winthai Suvari has confirmed that everyone is permitted to visit Prasat Ta Muen Thom Temple, emphasizing that this access is guaranteed under a joint agreement between nations. This statement comes in response to recent comments made by Hun Manet, the Prime Minister of Cambodia, regarding access to certain areas.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister Hun Manet warned Thailand about potential diplomatic issues if Thai authorities obstruct Cambodians from entering four key areas: Prasat Ta Muen Thom, Prasat Ta Muen Tod, Prasat Ta Kwai, and the Emerald Triangle. Hun Manet's remarks were interpreted as a warning against crossing a "red line," suggesting possible tensions should access be restricted.

Maj. Gen. Winthai clarified that Hun Manet's comments might have been aimed at bolstering morale among Cambodians during an internal event, rather than as an actual threat toward Thailand. He reassured that the visitations to Ta Muen Thom Temple are in line with existing agreements, and no actions have been undertaken by Thailand to disrupt these terms.
