Bannang Sata: Soldiers from the 4th Army Region have successfully constructed a temporary bridge to restore critical access routes in Bannang Sata District, Yala Province, assisting over 400 households that had been isolated due to severe flooding.
According to Thai News Agency, continuous heavy rain in the southern region has led to flash floods, severely impacting homes, communities, and transportation routes, particularly in the southern border provinces since late November 2014. Lieutenant General Paisal Noosang, Commander of the 4th Army Region and Director of the 4th Army Disaster Relief Center, has been closely monitoring the situation. He expressed his concern for the affected residents and ordered immediate and continuous deployment of military resources to mitigate the impact and alleviate the suffering in all aspects.
On December 3, 2014, the 4th Army Area received notification from Mr. Awae Yuso, the village headman of Village No. 4 in Taling Chan Subdistrict, that a landslide had caused the roa
d to collapse and the main bridge to be swept away by the floodwaters. This left more than 400 households unable to travel. In response, the 4th Army Area Commander instructed the 15th Engineer Battalion, 15th Infantry Division, to deploy engineering tools and equipment, including a backhoe and a Modular Fast Bridge (MFB), to temporarily reconnect the route. The installation has been completed, and the route is now open for public use. Volunteers from the 33rd Ranger Regiment Task Force are collaborating with government agencies and local leaders to clean and maintain the travel routes, with plans to repair and improve the permanent bridge once the water levels recede.
The Royal Thai Army, through the 4th Army Area, remains committed to providing ongoing assistance to residents in the flood-affected southern regions until normalcy is restored. Affected areas or individuals in need of help are encouraged to reach out to nearby military units or contact the 4th Army Area Disaster Relief Center at 075-383-405,
available 24 hours a day.
