AOT and NACC Collaborate to Advance Anti-Corruption Efforts in Thailand

Bangkok: Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) has entered a partnership with the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to bolster transparency and combat corruption across the nation. This collaboration seeks to enhance the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) through a public relations initiative aimed at raising awareness of corruption prevention and suppression. The campaign will feature anti-bribery and corruption materials, including infographics and video clips, displayed on screens at AOT's six airports: Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Mae Fah Luang-Chiang Rai, Phuket, and Hat Yai. The initiative positions the airports as vital communication channels to reach both the Thai and international public, including tourists and investors.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Paweena Jariyathitipong, Acting Director-General of AOT, emphasized AOT's commitment to supporting the national mission of elevating the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) through campaigns targeting service users and tourists. The initiative aligns with principles of good governance and seeks to boost confidence in the tourism sector while reinforcing Thailand's vision of becoming a regional leader in transparency and aviation. By fostering cooperation between government agencies, airports, and regulatory bodies, the initiative aims to enhance national economic competitiveness and drive Thailand's CPI score toward set targets.

Ms. Paweena further detailed that AOT has integrated NACC's anti-corruption policies and guidelines into its operations, launching projects to instill anti-corruption values among employees. This includes promoting transparency and good governance standards for business and contract partners through the Integrity and Transparency Assessment of Government Contractors (ITACG) project. Such efforts have led to AOT achieving a high Integrity Transparency Assessment (ITA) score, with the goal of reaching a "Pass" score of 94.65 by 2025. Additionally, AOT received the Department of Religious Affairs' Model Ethical Organization Award, underscoring its dedication to ethics and good governance.

Mr. Sonchai Chuwichian, Deputy Secretary-General of the NACC, expressed gratitude to AOT for its support in the public relations campaign to curb corruption among investors and foreigners. As the leading organization in preventing and suppressing corruption, the NACC aims to elevate the CPI score by engaging the private sector, investors, and foreigners, particularly in the AEC, in anti-corruption efforts. The initiative includes publicizing operations in both Thai and English and coordinating with relevant agencies to promote transparency and achieve Thailand's CPI goals.

This project, centered around public relations efforts at AOT's airports, is expected to play a significant role in raising Thailand's Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) and fostering cross-sector cooperation to build a transparent society and combat all forms of corruption.
