Anutin Stays Calm Amid Political Tensions, Sips Red Soda at Press Conference

Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, remains calm and composed despite the unfolding political drama. During a press conference, he was seen sipping a glass of red soda, emphasizing the sincerity of his party's political deal and asserting his commitment to personally engage in negotiations.

According to Thai News Agency, Anutin's comments come amid accusations of collusion involving the Senate and Khao Kradong incidents. The Pheu Thai Party-People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) negotiating group has urged for unity, stressing that further political division could harm the country.

When asked about his expectations for the People's Party meeting, where support for its prime ministerial candidate was to be discussed, Anutin mentioned that his party holds weekly meetings and appeared unperturbed by the anticipation.

Regarding the allegations that the Pheu Thai Party's negotiations with the Prachachon Party aimed to prevent Bhumjaithai from obtaining votes due to the Senate collusion and Khao Kradong cases, Anutin downplayed the situation, describing it as regular political activity.

In response to the Pheu Thai Party's vow to dissolve Parliament if Bhumjaithai's candidate is elected Prime Minister, Anutin acknowledged the legal right to dissolve Parliament, stating that legal actions could be pursued.

Addressing questions about whether his party's involvement in negotiations was impolite, Anutin emphasized the importance of unity and urged against actions that could foster division. He advocated for kindness, compassion, and understanding in the political landscape.

Anutin also responded to rumors of a potential boost in support for his premiership, following news that the Chartthaipattana Party and the Democrat Party might vote for him. He said that no discussions on the details had taken place yet.

Anutin expressed confidence in the People's Party, mentioning that conditions, known as the Terms of Reference (TOR), had been presented and agreed upon for a positive outcome for the country.

When asked about the Pheu Thai Party's potential dissolution of Parliament if the People's Party supported Bhumjaithai, Anutin prioritized national interests and unity over political threats.

Anutin also clarified that he lacked the authority to dissolve Parliament, and when pressed on whether the situation posed a threat, he called for mutual love among Thai people to protect the nation.

Finally, addressing the advantage of a Bhumjaithai candidate meeting with the Prachachon Party, Anutin stressed respect and openness in negotiations, asserting his sincerity in political dealings.

In a lighter moment, Anutin ordered a hot espresso and a glass of "Oh Aew" from his wife's caf©, demonstrating his favorite drink before reporters. He explained "Oh Aew" as a local dessert from Phuket and humorously resisted any political connections to it.
