Bangkok: "Anutin" dismisses rumors regarding a potential seat switch within the Interior Ministry, emphasizing the importance of adhering only to the Prime Minister's directives. Anutin Charnvirakul, the Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister, remains firm that there is no confusion or necessity for change unless directed by the Prime Minister.
According to Thai News Agency, Anutin responded to rumors about Prasert Chantarawongthong of the Pheu Thai Party taking control of the Interior Ministry. He asserted that discussions regarding a cabinet reshuffle have not been held with the Prime Minister or Thaksin Shinawatra. Anutin emphasized that trust should be placed in the Prime Minister, who has made no indication of immediate changes. He reiterated that any decisions regarding ministerial changes rest solely with the Prime Minister, dismissing any conflicting statements from others, even if they are close to the Prime Minister.
When queried about potential discussions with coalition parties or the need for ministerial changes, Anutin clarified that there had been no such talks. He emphasized the existing agreement to support the government's policies since the beginning, with all ministries working in harmony under the leadership of the Prime Minister. Anutin further stated that despite questions about potential changes, the Prime Minister's word is final, and any talk of reshuffling was speculative at this stage.
Anutin was also asked about preferences for certain ministries, should a reshuffle occur. He refrained from speculating, underscoring his commitment to following the Prime Minister's directives. Furthermore, Anutin dismissed any notions of confusion regarding the power dynamic between the Prime Minister and his father. He insisted that all government actions align with the Prime Minister's policies and directives.
In a lighter moment, Anutin recounted a personal incident where he slipped and injured his hand, preventing him from wearing his usual ring. Despite this mishap, he assured reporters that he was in good spirits and would seek medical attention if necessary. When asked humorously about the cabinet's condition, Anutin laughed off the question, suggesting that any discomfort was minor and would soon be alleviated.
