Anutin Denies Involvement in Lampang Businessman’s Extortion Case

Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, has publicly denied any involvement in an extortion case involving a Lampang businessman. The businessman had alleged that a couple, claiming to be personal advisors to Anutin, deceived him into paying money for contract rights.

According to Thai News Agency, the businessman accused the couple of tricking him into handing over 7 million baht in exchange for government construction project contracts. Anutin, who previously served as the Minister of Interior, stated that he never had any personal advisors. He described himself as a "solo artist," emphasizing that he operates independently and without the assistance of consultants.

Anutin humorously remarked that despite his alleged charm, no one has approached him to act as a personal advisor. He mentioned that the couple had falsely printed business cards to support their claims. Anutin stressed that anyone familiar with his work would recognize that he only worked with a limited number of staff at the Ministry of Interior. He concluded by stating that while he cannot control or force anyone's beliefs, he has always maintained a straightforward approach in his professional endeavors.
