Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, has reaffirmed the party's commitment to fielding candidates in the upcoming Sisaket by-election. He expressed confidence in the party's voter base and stated there is no need for discussions with the People's Party, preferring to let events unfold naturally.
According to Thai News Agency, Anutin stated that the Bhumjaithai Party is in the process of identifying suitable candidates for the Sisaket MP by-election. He emphasized that the party is well-prepared and will definitely participate in the election. Discussions with relevant stakeholders are currently underway to finalize the candidates.
Addressing questions about potential collaboration with the Prachachon Party, an opposition party with significant votes, Anutin dismissed the need for such talks. He suggested that it is more practical to allow situations to develop organically without forcing alliances.
Responding to concerns regarding the short term of the government and whether this by-election will be comprehensive, Anutin clarified that the government's duration is not a concern. He noted that the party is fulfilling its responsibilities as per the electoral rules. The decision to field a candidate is informed by the party's previous involvement in the region, as the earlier candidate was related to Ms. Traisuree Traisaranakul, a former official in the Ministry of Interior.
Regarding whether the election outcome will reflect the popularity of political parties, Anutin advised against overanalyzing the results. He stressed that the focus should remain on the party's duty to provide representation in areas with a strong voter base. The Bhumjaithai Party remains committed to ensuring that their candidates have the opportunity to serve the public effectively.
