Anutin Charnvirakul Reaffirms Support for 2016 Budget Amidst Political Speculations

Bangkok: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has firmly stated that he will not vote against the 2016 budget, asserting that the ongoing issues with the 14th floor court case have no connection with the government. Anutin also boasted about his recent eye lens surgery, claiming it has rejuvenated his vision and confidence in the government's future, which he believes will last its full term.

According to Thai News Agency, Anutin expressed his commitment to the government during a recent event, where he welcomed the Indonesian President. He dismissed any notions of stress, urging the media to refrain from spreading unfounded rumors. He emphasized that the Bhumjaithai Party, which he leads, is open to collaborating with any party, including the opposition, if it benefits the country and its people. Anutin reiterated that there will be no opposition to the 2026 budget bill, as it has already been prepared and approved by the cabinet, with significant allocations across various ministries.

Addressing questions about the growth of the Kla Tham Party and its potential challenge to the Bhumjaithai Party, Anutin downplayed any rivalry, stating that all political parties aim for growth by serving the people effectively. He confirmed ongoing collaboration with Colonel Thammanat Prompao of the Kla Tham Party, solidifying their working relationship.

Anutin also responded to inquiries about a potential cabinet reshuffle, emphasizing the government's stability with over 320 votes, further strengthened by the involvement of the Kla Tham Party. He expressed confidence in the administration's resilience and dismissed any concerns related to the Supreme Court's hearing on Thaksin Shinawatra's case, asserting that it is a judicial matter, separate from the government's executive functions.

When asked about personal and professional relationships within the government, Anutin stressed the importance of distinguishing between personal and public matters to ensure effective governance. He reassured that no one in the government has mixed personal issues with public duties.

Regarding the ongoing statements from senators to the Election Commission, Anutin stated he was unaware of the details, highlighting the separation of powers and his focus on his ministerial duties. He concluded by expressing optimism about the government's future, attributing his clear vision to the recent eye surgery and reaffirming his commitment to the government's full term.
