Anutin Asserts Thailand’s Position Amid Cambodia’s International Court Submission

Ubon Ratchathani: "Anutin" confirms Thailand has a stand, points out that the government has firmly held the back line. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, addressed concerns regarding Cambodia's recent submission of four disputed areas to the International Court of Justice during his visit to the Dom Pradit Subdistrict Administrative Organization in Nam Yuen District, Ubon Ratchathani Province.

According to Thai News Agency, Anutin assured that Thailand has a clear position on the matter and emphasized that the country has been continuously assessing the situation. He stated that the submission to the International Court of Justice was Cambodia's decision and that Thailand's border surveillance operations would continue to function around the clock, independent of international legal actions or military preparations.

Anutin also addressed concerns about the availability of sandbags for potential emergencies. He confirmed that the current supply was sufficient and that efforts to increase stock were ongoing. The situation is being continuously evaluated in coordination with military and administrative units to ensure appropriate measures are in place far from the battle line or border.

The Thai government has faced criticism over Cambodia's announcement of using a land division ratio of 1:200,000. Anutin reiterated that Thailand has its own defined stance on acceptable outcomes and has communicated its position clearly. He noted that any results from meetings between the parties involved would reflect Thailand's interests.

When questioned about the actions of the Deputy Commander of the 2nd Army Area, Anutin deferred, indicating that inquiries should be directed to the Deputy Commander. He affirmed that the administration has ensured a firmly established rear line and that the safety of people in these areas remains a top priority.

Lastly, Anutin acknowledged concerns over the morale of the local population but reassured that comprehensive plans for emergency response, support, medical treatment, and evacuation are in place to address any potential risks effectively.
