Anusorn Dismisses Thaksin’s Influence Over Pheu Thai Party

Bangkok: Anusorn Eiamsa-ard, a party-list MP for the Pheu Thai Party, has dismissed claims that former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra is exerting control over the party. Anusorn clarified that Thaksin's recent comments about the Pheu Thai Party reclaiming the Ministry of Interior were merely responses to media inquiries and not directives.

According to Thai News Agency, Anusorn emphasized that Thaksin's remarks, made during an interview at the 25th Anniversary of TV Nation event, were not indicative of any influence or authority over the party's decisions. He reiterated that Thaksin was simply addressing the necessity for the government to deliver tangible results in the remaining two years of its term, a viewpoint far from any implication of controlling party activities.

Anusorn further noted that Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra has clearly stated her complete authority over any potential cabinet reshuffle, with Thaksin having no sway in such matters. Should a cabinet adjustment occur, it would be an internal decision by the Pheu Thai Party, and currently, there are no plans for such changes. Anusorn assured that there is no element of party influence in this context.

He added that political observers understand the government's need to achieve outcomes that resonate with the public throughout its four-year term, particularly before the election period. Thaksin's comments, he argued, were merely an analytical perspective from an experienced outsider, underscoring his lack of control over the party.
