3:00 p.m. will decide whether the prime minister will stay or go, regarding the appointment of “Phichit”

The Constitutional Court is preparing to read the verdict in the ministerial case of 'Settha' from the case of appointing 'Phichit' as a minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, in which the Prime Minister did not come to the court himself, assigning 'Dr. Prommin' and the former senator's side to send 'Somchai' and 'Direkrit' to listen. Since 9:30 a.m., the Constitutional Court has scheduled an oral statement, a meeting to discuss and vote in the 40th case in which the Senate submitted a petition to the President of the Senate, requesting that the case be forwarded to the Constitutional Court to rule on the status of Prime Minister Settha Thavisin as a minister under Section 170, paragraph three, in conjunction with Section 82 of the Constitution, whether his status as a minister will end in accordance with Section 170, paragraph one (4), in conjunction with Section 160 (4) and (5) of the Constitution or not. This is due to the case of submitting the matter to His Majesty the King for the appointme nt of Mr. Pichit Chuenban as a Minister to the Prime Minister's Office, even though he knew or should have known that he lacked the qualifications or had prohibited characteristics under the Constitution, as he had previously been sentenced to 6 months in prison by the Supreme Court for contempt of court. At around 3:00 p.m., the Constitutional Court judges will sit on the bench to read the verdict. Since this morning, many media outlets from all departments have been waiting to report the news, amidst strict security and facilitation from the riot control police unit from the Metropolitan Police Bureau 2, a total of 1 company, and the Thung Song Hong Metropolitan Police Station, both in and out of uniform. Meanwhile, CCTV cameras have been set up in the middle of the building's lobby, and TV screens have been set up to prepare for live broadcasting while the Constitutional Court judges sit on the bench to read the verdict. While Mr. Settha did not come to the court in person, he assigned Dr. Prommin Lertsu riyadej, the Prime Minister's Secretary-General, to listen to the verdict. The petitioner, the former senator, sent Mr. Somchai Saengkaew and Mr. Direkrit Jenkongtham as representatives to listen. For the verdict, there are 2 analysis approaches: positive result, Mr. Settha survives the case, which will not affect the Prime Minister's position, and will continue to govern the country, but there are rumors of a possible cabinet reshuffle. The second approach is negative for Mr. Settha, meaning he will not survive, will be removed from the prime ministerial position, and the entire cabinet will be removed from office. The parliamentary mechanism must be used to consider and approve prime ministerial candidates from the party list with 25 or more MPs. Currently, the prime ministerial candidates from the party list that are coalition parties include Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Mr. Chaikasem Nitisiri from the Pheu Thai Party, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul from the Bhumjaithai Party, Gen. Prawit Wongsuwan from the Pal ang Pracharath Party, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, Mr. Pirapan Salirathavibhaga from the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party. In addition, there is a list from the opposition party, the Democrat Party, namely Mr. Jurin Laksanawisit. Source: Thai News Agency
