Rock deformation at Graben-Aru triggers earthquake in Kaimana: BMKG

Jakarta (ANTARA) – A 5.8-magnitude earthquake in the southern part of Kaimana City, West Papua on Monday was caused by rock deformation, according to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

The epicenter of the tectonic earthquake, which struck at 12.01 p.m. local time, was located in the sea at a depth of 77 km, or around 94 km south of Kaimana City, at 4.45 degrees south latitude and 134.01 degrees east longitude, head of the BMKG’s Earthquake and Tsunami Center Bambang Setiyo Prayitno said.

“Based on the location of the epicenter and the depth of the hypocenter, the earthquake is a moderate earthquake due to rock deformation in Graben-Aru,” Prayitno informed in a BMKG press release.

An analysis of the source mechanism showed that the earthquake had a downward movement mechanism, he said.

“The modeling results show that this earthquake has no tsunami potential,” he added.

The impact of the earthquake was felt in the Kaimana area on an MMI IV scale, and it was felt by many people indoors during the day, he said.

BMKG monitoring shows that there was no aftershock activity after the earthquake, he added.

According to the BMKG, there have so far been no reports of any damage caused by the earthquake.

The agency has advised residents to avoid buildings that have been cracked or damaged by the earthquake and to inspect residential buildings to ensure there is no damage that could jeopardize the stability of the building.

BMKG had earlier recorded the magnitude of the quake south of Kaimana City at 5.9 and then revised it to 5.8.

Demand for COVID-19 therapeutic drugs up in July: ministry

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin has said demand for COVID-19 therapeutic drugs increased in July 2021,  along with a spike in COVID-19 cases .

“The rise in demand led to an increase in imported raw materials, which was approximately four times. While the raw materials were being processed, the demand increased by eight to twelve times,” he said at an online press conference originating from Jakarta on Monday.

According to data from the ministry, in June 2021, the demand for therapeutic drugs rose four fold, along with the rise in the COVID-19 infection rate, he informed.

Meanwhile, the demand jumped twelvefold on July 15, 2021 and gradually declined to eightfold at the end of July, he added.

According to the minister, national pharmaceutical companies have not been able to keep up with the escalating demand.

He informed that it took four to six weeks to import raw materials, process them into drugs, and distribute the drugs to pharmacies and health facilities.

“We had also tried to import the finished products. However, it also took time,” he added.

Currently, COVID-19 therapeutic medicines produced by joint Indonesian pharmaceutical corporations have started to be distributed to various pharmacies, Sadikin said.

In addition, three COVID-19 drugs arrived in the first week of August, 2021 — 1,173,919 doses of Remdesivir; 115,594 doses of Tocilizumab 400 mg/20 ml; and, 286,921 doses of IVig 50 ml, he informed.

The Health Ministry is also collaborating with hospitals to conduct clinical trials of several domestically produced COVID-19 therapeutic medicines, he added.

“Hopefully, we will be able to suppress the demand for expensive imported medicines,” he said.

Ginting ‘grateful’ for Olympic win

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian badminton player Anthony Sinisuka Ginting said he was “very grateful” for winning the bronze medal in the badminton men’s singles at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics on Monday.

“I am very grateful to God since this is my first Olympics,” Ginting was quoted as saying on the official website of the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

“Actually, I wanted to win the gold medal. However, the opponent was tough. Hence, I tried hard and focused on today’s match. I am happy with my performance today and also the bronze medal,” he added.

He won the match against Kevin Cordon from Guatemala at Musashino Forest Sport Plaza. His medal was the second medal for Indonesia in badminton at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Ginting, ranked fifth in world badminton men’s singles, finished the match in 38 minutes, scoring 21-11 and 21-13.

He said he managed to defeat Cordon though it was his first match with the senior player thanks to the “right strategy” and observing his opponent’s playing style from the previous match.

“I watched his last match against Viktor Axelsen. I wanted to find a way to counter him. I am relief that I can perform well today,” he said.

The player said his two-week struggle in Tokyo finally paid off. He also admitted that he was very tired since he had focused all his physical and mental strength on the match.

He also commented on Greysia Polii and Apriyani Rahayu’s victory in the women’s doubles.

“All their hard work has paid off. They are working very hard this year. I know it from the training they have gone through. They are truly an inspiration,” he remarked.

Working around Apple’s defi browser removal, $USELESS Crypto creates a tool that renders Pancake Swap Useless

Useless Swap

Send BNB Smart Chain to the QR code and receive Useless in your Metamask or Trust Wallet!

OREM, Utah, Aug. 01, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — If you’ve ever experienced the frustration of attempting to buy alt coins in Trust Wallet with an iPhone, you’ll know the process is lengthy and frustrating, involving a special defi browser and a dApp like Pancake Swap or UniSwap. But the Useless Crypto team has created a “Useless Swapper” contract to cut out the middleman, which is especially helpful now that iOS users have been blocked from using the in-app defi browser option. Instead of the 8 step process, the Useless Swapper allows you to send BNB Smart Chain out, and immediately receive Useless crypto in return. No headache required.

With an average of 4 Million daily transactions on the Binance Smart Chain to buy and trade tokens like Useless Crypto, this is more than double the amount on Ethereum’s network, in part because of BSC’s cost-effective gas fees and smart contracts like the Useless Swapper that are so easily integrated. But Apple’s decision that forced Trust Wallet to disable the dApp browser to comply with App Store Guidelines could hinder existing holders from buying alt coins, and frustrate new buyers out of their intended purchases, limiting the space’s growth.

The creation of the Useless Swapper is unique to the token and the defi/dApp space. By simply sending Binance Smart Chain to the address 0x2d72aAb6d81E8EE681430C13850bD77585F222Cb with enough Smart Chain left in your wallet allocated for gas fees, you quickly receive Useless deposited directly into your crypto wallet. This also works on metamask if you don’t prefer Trust Wallet. With the ability to avoid using a frustrating dApp in the middle of your token swap, Useless and their development of dApps and upcoming app ecosystem is starting to prove the only thing Useless about this token is their name.

$USELESS continues to gain traction with more than 3300 holders since launching in mid June 2021, and was listed on both CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko mid July. Doxxed members of the corporate entity controlling the Multi-Signature wallet can be found on the token’s website, uselesscrypto.com.
