1st Army Area Commander Monitors Mine Clearance in Sa Kaeo Province

Sa kaeo: The 1st Army Area Commander visited Ban Nong Chan to follow up on the mine clearance mission. The Commander of Army Region 1 visited the border area of Sa Kaeo Province to monitor the mine clearance mission in the Ban Nong Chan area and prepare to hand over some of the Ban Nong Ya Kaeo area to the villagers.

According to Thai News Agency, Lt. Gen. Worayot Leungsuwan, Commander of the First Army Region, began his mission by overseeing the progress of land clearing in Ban Nong Chan, Khok Sung District. Following this, he proceeded to Ban Nong Ya Kaeo to hand over some of the land to villagers, specifically areas that have been completely cleared of mines. The process of land return is guided by title deeds, with two cases initially identified. The operation, which commenced on October 10th, has already detected 11 anti-personnel mines in Ban Nong Ya Kaeo. Some mines have been cleared, allowing the area to be returned to the villagers today.

In Ban Nong Chan, officials recently surveyed four anti-personnel mines, discovering that three were operational while one had damaged insulation. All mines have since been cleared. As of this morning, the situation remains calm with no movement from Cambodian forces near the border.

Observations suggest that life continues as usual on the Cambodian side, with military personnel, in both uniforms and plainclothes, rotating shifts at checkpoints and monitoring Thai movements, reporting any developments to their superiors.

The Burapha Task Force has been utilizing drones to survey both areas, confirming that the situation is normal. Security agencies in the region maintain vigilant monitoring to ensure the safety of citizens along the border in Sa Kaeo Province.
