1,200 Police Officers Deployed for June 28 Rally at Victory Monument

Bangkok: The Royal Thai Police has announced its readiness to manage the rally scheduled for June 28, 2025, at the Victory Monument, with an emphasis on maintaining public order and ensuring that freedom of expression is exercised within legal boundaries. A deployment of 1,200 police officers has been arranged for this purpose.

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Archayon Kraithong, a spokesman for the Royal Thai Police, stated that the Metropolitan Police Bureau (MPB) is the primary unit responsible for overseeing the public assembly and enforcing the Public Assembly Act of 2015. The approach focuses on negotiation, dialogue, and understanding with the rally organizers to balance freedom of expression with peace and order.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Archayon confirmed that the MPB has received notification of the rally and has coordinated with both the organizers and relevant agencies. The deployment includes security officers, traffic facilitators, and investigators who will closely monitor the situation before, during, and after the event. Intelligence teams are tasked with monitoring movements across Bangkok and other provinces, and checkpoints are being established on main traffic routes, including BTS stations, to prevent any disturbances.

The Royal Thai Police is urging the public to avoid the Victory Monument area on the day of the protest, although overall traffic will remain operational. Citizens are encouraged to report any unusual activities or emergencies by contacting the police at 191, available 24 hours a day.
