The Minister of Education discussed with the Education Council Board to continue driving national education.

Pol. Gen. Phermpoon Chidchob, Minister of Education, chaired the 3/2024 Education Council meeting. The Education Council board approved the 2024 Thailand Lifelong Learning Education Index, proposing that government agencies cooperate with the private sector and local people to promote the creation of learning cities in each province of the country. Mr. Atthapol Sangkhawasi, Secretary-General of the Education Council, revealed that the meeting of the OHEC this time has 2 important agendas to consider: 1. There is a resolution to approve the adjustment of the National Education Plan, which must be adjusted every 5 years to be in line with the changing world situation and environment. This must wait for the government to announce its policy to the parliament first. Therefore, the National Education Plan Development Committee is requested to wait to hear the government's policy before considering the adjustment to be in line with the government's policy. 2. The Education Index for Lifelong Learning of Thailand 2024 has a resolution to approve the OHEC to coordinate the data with agencies to use in developing learning resources and studying data to be used in the preparation of the 14th National Economic and Social Development Plan. In addition, the meeting reported on the results of the guidelines for the operation of the credit bank for basic and vocational education in 2024, the progress in preparing the pilot of the Essential Skills Set for Thai children and youth, with 71 educational institutions agreeing to participate in the pilot, and Thailand hosting the 5th Thailand-Russia Roundtable on Cooperation in Education for the Gifted and Research, etc. Source: Thai News Agency
