The Interior Ministry is ready to mobilize its forces to help areas affected by flash floods.

Interior Minister 4 ready to mobilize full force to help areas affected by flash floods, reveals the Prime Minister is accelerating the warning system via text messages. Ms. Thirat Samretwanich, Deputy Minister of Interior, gave an interview about the flash flood area yesterday (23 September) in Chiang Rai Province. She said that in terms of assistance, both officials from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), the military, and many other agencies have gone to help those affected. However, there is still concern about people who are still trapped in Ban Mae Pun Lang, Mae Pun Luang, and Ban Huai Hin Lat, which are areas hit by the flash flood on the mountain. There is a pregnant woman who had to use a helicopter to help her move out because the road is impassable. She has also gone to help those who are still trapped. Ms. Thirat said that for food, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has been sent to inspect where there is a shortage. However, when going to the area, there was a direct conversation with the Mae Sai District Clerk, who stated that in some areas, the people who came to help were exhausted and had withdrawn. There is still enough dry food, but the food preparers may need to send in additional teams to take turns helping the people. From our coordination, we are aware of the process and progress of this assistance. As for the current warning system, how is it? Ms. Thirat said that today Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister, ordered that it be faster in warning via SMS system, which we are ready for. It is expected that in the areas we are monitoring, such as Lampang, which is now at the bank, we will be able to send SMS immediately. We are waiting for the complete message and it does not cause panic among the people. We think that it will be successful within the near future. Source: Thai News Agency
