Prime Minister Orders Acceleration of Budget Disbursement to Stimulate Economy.

Bangkok: The Prime Minister has directed a swift disbursement of the central budget, with aims to invigorate the economy by year-end. The directive also includes linking people's data to advance towards a digital government, alongside the Cabinet's approval of a 2.5 billion baht fund to restore flood-affected agricultural areas and assist farmers. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, advisor to the Prime Minister and government spokesman, announced on the 'Sai Jak Jai Thai Khu Fa' program that Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra convened a meeting with government agency leaders. The Prime Minister urged the Ministry of Finance to expedite budget disbursement to various agencies to stimulate the economy urgently. She also emphasized the importance of data linkage to transform into a digital government, using the database as an economic tool. The Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Industry, and related agencies to study city expansion and adjust future city p lans to improve housing management, commuting, and investment, particularly in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). Mr. Jirayu noted the establishment of a Center for the Relief Operation for flood-affected individuals. Recently, the Cabinet, through the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, approved the central budget to assist farmers impacted by floods. Over 2.5 billion baht has been allocated for the 2024 Flood Relief Farmers Rehabilitation Project to restore agricultural areas swiftly, focusing on rice and other flooded crops.
