Ministry of Agriculture Accelerates Livestock Assistance for Flood-Affected Southern Farmers.


Bangkok: The Ministry of Agriculture is taking swift action to provide comprehensive livestock assistance to farmers in the southern region affected by recent flooding. Anukul Prueksanusak, deputy government spokesman, has reassured the community that efforts are being made to support the affected farmers.

According to Thai News Agency, the Department of Livestock Development has implemented immediate measures to assist those impacted by the floods. These measures include the distribution of 134,240 kilograms of animal feed, the evacuation of 207,793 animals, the provision of 268 animal health promotion kits containing minerals, antibiotics, and vitamins, treatment for 701 animals, and the distribution of 158 animal survival bags.

In addition to these immediate actions, relevant agencies are conducting urgent surveys to assess the extent of the damage caused by the flooding. Relief efforts are being coordinated in line with the Ministry of Finance’s regulations on government reserve funds for emergency disa
ster relief established in 2019. Plans are also underway to aid in the recovery process once the floodwaters recede, enabling farmers to return to their livelihoods and regain their income as quickly as possible.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives has reported that nine provinces have been affected by the floods, including Chumphon, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Narathiwat, Pattani, Yala, Songkhla, Satun, and Trang. These areas encompass a total of 71 districts, 425 sub-districts, and 2,235 villages. The floods have impacted 117,400 farmers and 5,753,340 animals, comprising 215,925 cows, 8,453 buffalo, 75,164 pigs, 135,775 goats and sheep, and 5,318,023 poultry. Moreover, 6,017.50 hectares of pastures have also been affected.
