Bangkok Named Top Tourist Destination as Thailand Prepares for High Season.

Bangkok: The government has emphasized its commitment to ensuring the well-being of tourists, following the ranking of "Bangkok, Thailand" as the top place to visit by a renowned website. Concurrently, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is advancing plans to organize events aimed at boosting tourism during the upcoming high season at the end of the year. According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Sasikarn Wattanachan, Deputy Government Spokesperson, disclosed that the esteemed travel magazine Travel + Leisure from the United States has declared Thailand as the tourist destination of the year 2025. This accolade is attributed to Thailand's remarkable soft power, showcasing its cultural richness, culinary delights, and the seamless blend of traditional Thai elements with modernity. Each region in Thailand offers its unique charm, particularly Bangkok, which is celebrated for its cultural vibrancy, exquisite dining options, and thriving LGBTQ+ community. Additionally, global digital tourism platform Agoda ranked Bangkok as the leading city among the 10 most booked destinations and the second most popular destination globally. Thailand also emerged as the second most booked country worldwide. This highlights the appeal and strength of Thai tourism, which draws visitors to partake in diverse activities, such as savoring Bangkok's culinary offerings and relaxing on the country's over 1,430 islands. Ms. Sasikarn further stated that the government has instructed TAT to continuously promote domestic tourism, especially during November and December 2024, which are key months of the high season. Various government initiatives aim to facilitate travel to Thailand, including the Ease of traveling measure, the exemption of the TM.6 card, and the encouragement of airlines to increase flight frequencies. Ms. Sasikarn remarked, "The rankings are a testament to Thailand's potential and success as a diverse tourist destination in terms of nature, activities, and culture. Prime Minister Ms. Paethongtarn has a policy to continuously promote the tourism sector. Most recently, she opened the Thailand Winter Festivals, inviting Thais and foreigners to travel to Thailand to generate income and stimulate economic money to return to the people."
