Women’s Network of 20 Northeastern Provinces Organizes Activities to Encourage Thaksin

Bangkok: Women's networks from 20 northeastern provinces held a symbolic event to show support for Thaksin. The deputy spokesperson for the Department of Corrections revealed that Thaksin remains fatigued and is scheduled to see a doctor for a physical examination tomorrow.

According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Cherdchai Tantisirin, a party-list MP, along with Assistant Professor Panwadi Tantisirin, advisor to the Women's Network of 20 Northeastern Provinces, and a number of representatives from the Women's Network of 20 Northeastern Provinces, participated in an activity to offer encouragement to Dr. Thaksin Shinawatra, the former Prime Minister, in front of Klong Prem Central Prison.

Dr. Cherdchai expressed his desire to encourage the former prime minister to continue his fight, noting that the women's group is part of the Red Shirts. He highlighted the achievements of female leaders from the Shinawatra family and criticized the current political climate, mentioning the Khao Kradong case involving senators in bid-rigging.

Dr. Cherdchai emphasized Thaksin's contributions to the country's economy and the 30-baht universal healthcare scheme. He objected to claims that Thaksin had not yet served his prison term and suggested that Thaksin should consult a specialist, such as a cardiologist.

Assistant Professor Panwadi reflected on the group's ongoing struggle since 2009, acknowledging Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra's implementation of the Women's Development Fund. She expressed encouragement for Thaksin and his family, affirming that the network will continue to support them and strive for victory in future elections.

The Women's Network of 20 Northeastern Provinces prepared symbolic garlands, each representing love, respect, and the spirit of democracy. The group conveyed support for Khunying Potjaman and her family, pledging to remain a force in the region.

The event featured songs of faith and encouragement, with participants offering jasmine garlands as a gesture of support, while officers from the Prachachuen Metropolitan Police Station and the Department of Corrections maintained safety and order during the gathering.

Regarding Thaksin's condition, it was reported that he was sent for a physical examination due to fatigue and body aches but was not admitted to the hospital. Kanokwan Jiwchuephan, deputy spokesperson for the Department of Corrections, confirmed that Thaksin's condition remains stable, with an appointment scheduled for further health examination.
