The Metropolitan Police Commissioner sent two deputy commissioners to control the illegal liquor case, while the police found the source of methanol, the dangerous substance that killed drinkers. Pol. Maj. Gen. Noppasin Poolsawat, deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, and Pol. Maj. Gen. Somkuan Phuengtrakul, deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, along with Pol. Maj. Gen. Kiattikun Sonthine, commander of the Metropolitan Police Bureau 3, and officers from the Metropolitan Police Bureau 3 Investigation and Inquiry Division in the area, held a meeting to follow up on the illegal liquor case. Yesterday, Min Buri police went to seize illegal liquor from 12 locations that were received from Ms. Pu for inspection. They also invited the owner of the herbal liquor stall for questioning and expanded the investigation to prepare to press charges against Ms. Pu. From the initial examination of the evidence, it was found that there was methanol in the illegal liquor mixed by Ms. Pu. The methanol content was higher than that found in the white liquor seized from the production point of the two brothers S and Art in the area of ??Bang Chan Police Station. After the meeting, Pol. Lt. Col. Kiattikul revealed that after collecting sufficiently clear evidence, last night Ms. Pu or Ms. Phassara, aged 49, was summoned to acknowledge the four charges: acting recklessly causing death / acting recklessly causing serious injury / producing liquor without permission / and selling liquor without permission. Ms. Pu continued to give her statement as before. Since there was no evidence of her fleeing, she was granted bail. As for the investigation into the source of the methanol, there has been significant progress. The investigation team has found an important answer: where the methanol in the illegal liquor or herbal liquor sold was created. There is both physical evidence and witness testimony. Currently, the investigation is being expanded and scientific evidence is required. If the evidence reaches an yone, they will all be prosecuted. For S and Art, they are currently in detention and will have to be questioned further. However, there is currently information that S and Art normally buy ethyl alcohol from a chemical company in Samut Prakan. However, there have been recent changes and they are not the same as before, which has caused problems. We are currently investigating this issue. When asked what the owners of the 18 herbal drink stalls would be guilty of, Pol. Lt. Col. Kiattikul said that initially they would be called in for questioning as witnesses because they would have to look at the circumstances to see if they were involved in the crime. However, as for the offense of selling alcohol without permission, they would be prosecuted anyway. The investigation team reported that Mr. S and Mr. Art, the producers of white liquor who were previously arrested, usually buy ethanol from a chemical shop in Samut Prakan. From checking the information, it was found that the chemical shop only sold ethanol to the two suspects. They never sold methanol because the shop did not sell methanol. However, recently, the suspects still owe the company money for ethanol. Therefore, it is believed that the suspects went to order from other sources. Because Ms. Pu had ordered a new lot of white liquor, she had to find the raw materials to make white liquor. In addition, recently, customers began to complain about the taste being too weak. Therefore, it is believed that they must have found a compound to mix stronger liquor. Therefore, they found methanol to be an ingredient in making white liquor. Currently, the police are still investigating where the two suspects ordered the methanol from. Because currently, the suspects still deny that they bought methanol. However, from checking the liquor containers in the houses of the two suspects that were seized, methanol was clearly found. As for the doubts about the methanol content found in white liquor/Je Pu herbal liquor and the 18 herbal liquor stalls, the methanol content was not the same, there is initial information that during the herbal liquor preparation process, during the boiling of certain herbs with ethanol, a chemical reaction will produce methanol, but it will occur in an amount that is not harmful to the body. Therefore, we are still waiting for the results of the examination of all substances from the Department of Medical Sciences. Source: Thai News Agency
