Bangkok: "Big Tao" has expressed his delight over the promotions of Pol. Lt. Gen. Noppasin and Pol. Lt. Gen. Rungroj, commending them as capable individuals. Despite his contentment with these appointments, "Big Tao" remains concerned about certain inappropriate appointments and transfers within the police force. He remains committed to working diligently even though he has not been reappointed.
According to Thai News Agency, a meeting of the Police Commission (P.C.C.) lasted eight hours as they compiled a list of 250 officers for transfer. Notably absent from the list was Pol. Lt. Gen. Charoonkiat Pankaew, Deputy Commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau, who had previously sought justice from Acting Prime Minister Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Charoonkiat expressed no disappointment over the lack of appointments, emphasizing his desire to provide opportunities for others. He specifically congratulated Pol. Maj. Gen. Noppasin Poolsawat, who was appointed Commander of the Office of the National Police Commissioner, for his capabilities as an investigator. Additionally, Pol. Maj. Gen. Rungroj Thakoorpunyasiri was promoted to Commander of the Border Patrol Police, recognized for his combat experience on the Thai-Cambodian border. However, Charoonkiat pointed out that a few promotions from Pol. Maj. Gen. to Pol. Lt. Gen. were unsuitable, and he withheld comments on those promoted to Pol. Col. as he had not seen the list.
Charoonkiat believes open warnings to the Royal Thai Police Commission or superiors to make fair changes would be beneficial. He plans to discuss with the Police Commission and the Police Ethics Protection Commission (P.E.P.C.) to establish clear guidelines for appointments based on knowledge and ability. This effort aims to push the Royal Thai Police Commission to implement the Police Act of 2022, ensuring clarity and fairness in future appointments.
Furthermore, Charoonkiat clarified that the promotion of Pol. Maj. Gen. Noppasin and others was based on their outstanding performance, rather than a strategic plan by the Royal Thai Police. Despite his request for justice, Charoonkiat remains undeterred by the prospect of not being reappointed next year and is committed to working harder for the public good.
