OBEC Implements Safety Measures Following Teacher and Student Incidents.

Kanchanaburi: The Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) is implementing safety measures for teachers and students in response to recent incidents involving a teacher and students in Kanchanaburi and Sukhothai Provinces. According to Thai News Agency, OBEC Secretary-General Second Lieutenant Thanu Wongchinda disclosed that a man broke into a female teacher's residence in Kanchanaburi and students were involved in a violent altercation in Sukhothai, which drew significant concern on social media. Lt. Col. Thanu stated that upon learning of the incidents, he directed the OBEC's Happiness and Safety Management Center to collaborate with the school's affiliated educational service area office to promptly investigate the situations. In the Kanchanaburi case, the perpetrator has been apprehended and is undergoing legal proceedings. The Kanchanaburi Secondary Educational Service Area Office is actively monitoring the case. Additionally, strict security measures have been mandated for educational institut ions, and cooperation has been sought from the school network, community leaders, and volunteers to ensure the safety of students and staff around the clock. Regarding the Sukhothai incident, the Sukhothai Primary Educational Service Area Office 2, along with school administrators, visited the assaulted student to provide moral support and are closely tracking the student's recovery. Financial assistance has been provided from the Child Welfare Fund. The student responsible for the altercation is subject to legal proceedings and is under the supervision of his parents and multidisciplinary officers. The school plans to initially implement a combination of online and worksheet-based learning, with the situation being reassessed to ensure educational continuity. The OBEC Secretary-General emphasized the importance of monitoring and enforcing safety measures in educational institutions. OBEC is committed to resolving incidents promptly and fostering a secure environment for both teachers and students, inside a nd outside school premises.
