Bangkok: In a somber ceremony at Wat Yu Dee Bamrung Tham, family and friends gathered to bid a final farewell to 'Bank Lester,' a young man who tragically died after being forced to drink alcohol. His grandmother, overwhelmed with emotion, laid flowers for her grandson one last time, as a community of supporters vowed to care for her in his absence.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Prasert Kanthi, Bank Lester's father, expressed forgiveness toward those involved in the incident, urging them to refrain from creating similar harmful content in the future. He shared his intentions to care for Bank's grandmother, moving her to Udon Thani Province to ensure she is looked after closely, reflecting on past regrets of abandoning Bank as a child.
During the cremation ceremony, Mr. Kanthas Pongpaiboonwet, known as Kan Jom Phalang, facilitated a conversation between Mr. Ekkachat, the host of the fateful birthday party, and Bank's family. Mr. Ekkachat promised to financially support Bank's grandmother and build her a home, demonstrating his commitment to take responsibility for the events that led to Bank's death.
Despite facing legal challenges, Mr. Ekkachat denied involvement in illegal activities, emphasizing his dedication to helping Bank's family. He acknowledged the public scrutiny and the lessons learned from the incident, hoping it serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of excessive drinking.
The ceremony concluded with emotional farewells, as attendees laid flowers in tribute. Mr. Kan Chom Phalang highlighted the importance of Mr. Ekkachat's ongoing support for the grandmother, stressing societal expectations for him to fulfill his promises.
