Bangkok: The Government Housing Bank (GHB) has stepped up to support flood victims in Thailand’s northern region by distributing 1,100 relief bags and implementing comprehensive debt relief measures. This initiative aims to mitigate the severe impact of recent heavy rains, flash floods, and mudslides that have devastated numerous provinces, including Sukhothai, Chiang Mai, Mae Hong Son, Uttaradit, Phetchabun, and Phitsanulok.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Kamolpop Virapala, President of GHB, emphasized the bank’s commitment to alleviating the suffering of those affected by the natural disaster. The bank’s response includes the deployment of relief teams and the introduction of “Disaster Relief Measures 2025,” which provide substantial financial assistance to affected residents.
One of the key measures includes a reduction in installment payments and loan interest rates for existing customers for one year. This involves suspending repayments for three months with a 0% interest rate during that period. F
or the subsequent months, interest rates are set at a reduced 2.00% per annum, while installment payments are halved. Customers can also access the Repair-Decorate Loan programs for home repairs, with favorable interest rates and loan terms.
Further assistance is available for both existing and new customers needing additional loans for home repairs or replacements, with a maximum loan amount of 2 million baht. The bank offers competitive interest rates and a loan term of up to 40 years, with benefits such as waived fees to ease financial burdens.
For non-performing loan (NPL) customers, the bank provides tailored debt settlement and compromise options, including reduced interest rates and flexible repayment plans. Special provisions are also in place for customers facing disability or complete property damage, where debt waivers and case-by-case considerations are offered.
Additionally, GHB ensures expedited claims processing for customers with insurance policies covering natural disasters, facilitating q
uick compensation based on actual damages.
The bank encourages affected customers to seek assistance through any GH Bank branch, contact the GH Bank Call Center, or utilize digital platforms for further support.
