Dr. Boon’s Family Appeals for Court’s Mercy Amidst Legal Battle.

Bangkok: Lawyers representing Ms. Jaruwan, 79, and Ms. Nalin, 51, the wife and daughter of Dr. Boon, have revealed the stress and emotional turmoil faced by their clients as they plead for mercy before the court. The legal team is seeking the temporary release of both defendants, who are implicated in a case involving allegations of colluding in fraud, money laundering, and violations of the Check Act. According to Thai News Agency, the defense counsel emphasized that the defendants have no intention of fleeing or tampering with evidence, asserting their readiness to comply with the court's orders. Despite these assurances, investigators have opposed bail, citing the high value of damages involved in the case. The court is urged to consider the defendants' health issues and alleged forgery of signatures as part of their plea for leniency. The courtroom saw emotional scenes as both Ms. Jaruwan and Ms. Nalin broke down in tears, overwhelmed by their circumstances. The lawyer attributed their stress to the dra stic change in their living conditions and existing health problems, with the daughter suffering from depression and the elderly mother facing multiple health challenges. In their defense, the legal team reiterated the defendants' lack of involvement in the forgery of signatures, claiming that thorough document reviews revealed clear evidence of forgery. The lawyer also addressed speculations regarding a supposed "political divorce," dismissing such claims and clarifying that the defendants seek only their personal belongings. Regarding Dr. Boon's alleged escape abroad, the lawyer clarified that he holds no contact with Dr. Boon and is not representing him legally. The defense team explained their decision not to file a complaint at the crime scene, stating that the incident was unknown to their clients until victims initiated lawsuits, prompting them to compile evidence for submission to the Technology Crime Suppression Division. The potential transfer of Dr. Boon's case to the Department of Special Inves tigation (DSI) was acknowledged as part of the procedural work of officials. When questioned about the investigator's request for an arrest warrant based on suspected financial connections, the lawyer admitted to a lack of detailed knowledge, stressing the need for further evidence to substantiate the claim of forged signatures.
