Court Grants Bail to Man Who Slapped ‘Lawyer Thammarat’.

Bangkok: The prosecutor has filed a lawsuit against "Toey", the person who slapped "Lawyer Thammarat". The court has given her a chance to fight the case regarding damages and has granted her bail during the consideration. The next meeting with both parties will be on 25 Nov. According to Thai News Agency, in the case of Mr. Thammarat, a lawyer, who was slapped during a press conference to file a complaint against Professor Beer, a person who is agitated by the Dhamma, at the Crime Suppression Division's complaint center, yesterday, the investigation officer at Phaholyothin Police Station arranged to bring Mr. Charuwet or Toey and Mr. P, the perpetrators, along with their opinions on the case, to the public prosecutor's office of the 1st Provincial Court to consider ordering the indictment and to forward the case to the Phra Nakhon Nuea Criminal Court. Mr. Toey insisted that he did it because he was dissatisfied with the issue of Lawyer Thammarat posting a picture on Facebook about a Muslim riding a pig, wh ich he saw as an insult to religion. On the day of the incident, while reporters asked about the issue, he stood listening beside them, but the famous lawyer did not answer. He therefore became angry and slapped Lawyer Thammarat in the mouth. He did not plan it and did it alone. The other two friends were not involved; they were just friends. No one hired them to do it. Initially, legal action was taken against both of them under Section 295, whoever harms another person to the point of causing physical or mental harm to that other person is guilty of assault and is liable to imprisonment not exceeding 2 years or a fine not exceeding 40,000 baht or both. Both of them submitted a request for bail, which the court considered and allowed the defendants to be granted bail during the trial.
