Bangkok: CCTV footage shows the pursuit of four assailants, dressed in camouflage and armed with weapons, who planted a bomb at an ATM in Yala Province. They attempted to rob the safe but were unable to retrieve the money. According to Thai News Agency, CCTV footage from a gas station in the Ban Bu branch of Yala's Muang district captured the scene at approximately 1:15 a.m. of four assailants, wearing concealed clothing and helmets, armed with firearms, secretly planting an improvised explosive device at an ATM. The four then fled into hiding. About a minute later, the explosion occurred at approximately 1:16 a.m. Two of the assailants attempted to break into the safe, while the other two, armed with firearms, were unable to break out and fled at 1:18:10 a.m. Following the incident, officials cordoned off the area and coordinated with the bomb disposal and forensic team and officers from the 10th Forensic Science Center in Yala to inspect the scene to collect evidence and examine the damage to various ATM equipment. Initially, officials were unable to confirm the type of explosive device, but are investigating the connection to two other incidents that occurred the previous night. These include the burning of tires on Highway 409, the burning and shooting of a transformer, and the setting of a suspicious object near a Krung Thai Bank ATM in front of a minimart at the Ban Niang branch in Po Seng Subdistrict, Mueang District, Yala Province. Furthermore, there was an ATM bombing at the Ban Nang Dama intersection in Kabang District, Yala Province. Initially, no injuries or deaths were reported at any of the three locations. The hunt is underway for the perpetrators who planted bombs and burned tires in five districts. The progress of the bombings and burning of tires in five districts in Narathiwat Province, namely Su-ngai Padi, Bacho, Chanae, Cho Airong, and Si Sakhon, occurred on the night of August 31st and continued on September 1st. Regarding the bombing in front of the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) Bajoe Branch in Narathiwat Province, bomb disposal and forensic officers inspected the area and found two damaged ATMs. The bank's nameplate, awning, door glass, windows, and canvas tent in front were damaged by shrapnel. Officials also found fragments of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) strewn across the ground, assembled in a metal box and round steel pipes, detonated with a remote control. Investigation before the incident revealed that there were 4 criminals, dressed in black and fully armed with firearms, riding on 2 motorcycles. 1 criminal tied up the hands of a security guard. The other 3 brought improvised explosive devices that had been prepared in a metal box, assembled and placed in 2 round steel pipes, each weighing 3 kilograms. Police suspect the perpetrators committed the symbolic act on the anniversary of the founding of Bersatu. The perpetrators set off bombs near a printing press and an ATM, one bomb per machine, and fled on a motorcycle. After one minute, the bombs exploded.
