NAKHON RATCHASIMA: A five-year-old boy, who was a victim of a drunk driving accident involving a retired civil servant, has died from injuries sustained in the crash. The boy, known as 'Nong Chai,' succumbed to a fractured skull and blood clots in his brain after being in a coma since the incident.
According to Thai News Agency, the accident occurred on December 23 in front of Don Kwang School in Tambon Hua Thale, Mueang District, Nakhon Ratchasima. The 75-year-old retired agricultural officer from Nakhon Ratchasima Province, who was under the influence of alcohol, struck Pol. Lt. Wimut Tansupho, a deputy traffic inspector at Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima Police Station. The officer was on duty to manage traffic for students leaving school and was killed on the scene. The incident also resulted in injuries to nine others, including one vendor, four guardians, and four students. Three of the injured students were in serious condition, including 'Nong Chai.'
The tragic news of the child's death was confirmed at 11:25 a.m. on December 30. In response, Ban Don Khwang School expressed their condolences for the loss of 'Nong Chai.' The child's family plans to hold religious rites at Wat Ban Phra in Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima.
