We have consistently conducted reforms in taxation: Jokowi

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Presidential candidate number 01 Joko Widodo claimed his government along with Jusuf Kalla had consistently carried out reforms in taxation, which was one of the efforts to increase the revenue from tax.

“In my opinion, if we consistently carry out reforms in taxes, services and online taxes, it will have a significant impact on taxpayers to pay their taxes,” Joko Widodo said during the fifth round of the presidential debate in Jakarta on Saturday.

In the final presidential debate, Jokowi conveyed to presidential candidate number 02 Prabowo Subianto that the submission of tax annual returns (SPT) could be done through e-filing facilities that were provided by the Taxation Directorate General of the Finance Ministry.

“This is a tax reform that can be introduced,” Joko Widodo said.

Previously, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said that tax annual returns (SPT) had reached 10.32 million, an increase of 9.4 percent compared to the same period in 2018 at 10.05 million.

Sri Mulyani said that the reporting of SPT through e-filling increased rapidly to 23.68 percent.

The final presidential debate on Saturday evening focused on economic, social welfare, finance and investment, as well as trade and industry.

Indonesia will organize simultaneous legislative and presidential elections on April 17, 2019, where Joko Widodo and his running mate Ma’ruf Amin will face challenger Prabowo Subianto and his pair, Sandiaga Uno.
