Waskita Karya inks cooperation pact with Turkish contractor Nurol

State construction firm PT Waskita Karya has officially established cooperation with Turkish infrastructure contractor Nurol through the signing of a Letter of Intent.

Waskita president director Destiawan Soewardjono said that the signing of the Letter of Intent between Waskita and Nurol was carried out to expand Waskita’s business scope.

“Cooperation with Nurol is not limited to Turkey or Indonesia but also other countries,” he noted in a written statement received here on Thursday.

Waskita, which was represented by Soewardjono, inked the agreement during the official bilateral visit of Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi to Turkey.

During her visit, Marsudi met with the Turkish Foreign Minister, paid an honorary visit to the Turkish President, and held a meeting with the Turkish Construction Association.

While accompanying the minister, Soewardjono said he had the opportunity to meet with one of Turkey’s infrastructure contractors Nurol.

He said he signed the cooperation pact with Nurol, which was represented directly by Nurol president naat ve Ticaret, Nurettin Çarmikli.

Furthermore, during his visit to Turkey, Soewardjono said he held discussions with various Turkish construction business players.

This was done as an effort to strengthen infrastructure cooperation between the two countries, especially for recovering the national economy, he explained.

PT Waskita Beton Precast’s marketing director Poerbayu Ratsunu, also joined the bilateral visit to Turkey, he added.

Currently, the company has conducted a business transformation, which is part of the eight streams of Waskita Financial Health, Soewardjono said. One of the streams is to focus on international market development, he added.

Waskita is deepening its cooperation in several potential building and infrastructure projects in the Middle East and Africa region, he said.

Through its overseas division, the company is seeking to enter the global construction market, especially in Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, he informed.
