Walhi’s investigating team to assist violent rally’s victims

Palembang, S Sumatra (ANTARA) – South Sumatra Indonesian Forum for the Environment (Walhi) formed an investigating team for victims to file a lawsuit against police repression at a student rally before the South Sumatra Provincial Legislative Assembly building, Sept 24.

The investigating team is probing and accruing evidence in connection with the police repression against the demonstrating students, Hairul Sobri, executive director of the Walhi chapter, noted in Palembang on Thursday.

The investigation outcome will serve as the basis to report the case to the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) and the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM), he revealed.
